We at Asset Test and Tag will inspect all your fire extinguishers and fire blankets for any use or damage. This way you can be assured that your fire extinguishers will do the job they are intended for in case of an emergency.
We have the knowledge in place to recommend the most appropriate fire extinguishers and fire blankets for the risk factors we can see in your area.
Even if a fire extinguisher has not been used, all cylinders require pressure testing every 5 years. If used since the last test they need to be refilled or replaced.
During the inspection, we ensure that the extinguisher or fire blanket is in serviceable condition for it to pass the safety check.
Before applying service tags to fire extinguishers and fire blankets, we make sure that it checks out all items in our list. All parts of the fire extinguisher or fire blanket should be in excellent condition for it to pass the safety check.
Fire extinguisher and fire blanket testing is recorded on the metal tag attached to the unit.
There’s an inspection of all fire extinguishers every 6 months.

Generally, it will take approximately 5-10minutes to correctly test and tag each item.
As we move through your premises our testing should not impact on the operation of your business.
We have the ability of taking Visa or MasterCard payments on the day. Our preferred method of payment is from Electronic Funds Transfers.
Checking the signage, service history, location, general condition, any external damage, contents of the Fire Extinguisher or Fire Blanket.
AS1851-2012 enables persons responsible for Fire Extinguisher and Fire Blanket equipment in the workplace to instigate an inspection and testing programme to achieve that aim. It also enables persons undertaking the inspection and testing to carry out the task in a safe and effective manner. This standard defines the In-service safety inspection and testing of Fire Extinguisher and Fire Blanket. It defines the minimum inspection and testing intervals. If any Fire Extinguishers and Fire Blankets we test is found to be faulty we tag it with a ‘Failed’ tag.
At the conclusion of the testing the responsible person in the workplace will be advised of the faulty equipment that was taken out of. It will be then up to this person to decide whether the faulty item is to be repaired or discarded.
Some minor repairs can be provided by Asset Test and Tag on site to enable the faulty item to be put back into service
As the Fire Extinguisher contains chemicals or a gas at pressure, the only way the integrity of the Fire Extinguisher can be checked is by subjecting it to a hydrostatic pressure test.
The Australian Standard states that only a competent person who has the knowledge and training can undertake the testing.
We have a minimum charge of $120 (plus GST) per service.
Our charges are based on the number and type of tests that are done. As the scope of the job grows generally the charges reduce when there is a high quantity of tests involved.
After discussing your needs, we may decide to do a site inspection prior to providing the quote, this way we get the opportunity to see if there is any additional work in providing the service – this way there are no surprises for either party.
When the service is provided in a remote location we reserve to right to charge a surcharge.
Generally, we are booked up to a month in advance, depending upon the scope of the service we may be able to slip your job into our schedule within the month.
